Qantas’ inaugural service between Sydney and Bengaluru in India took flight on Wednesday. Flight QF67 will cut nearly three hours off of the fastest travel time between the two cities and significantly boost connectivity between NSW and India.
On Wednesday (September 14, 2022), Qantas celebrated the launch of their inaugural flight, QF67, between Sydney and Bengaluru in India. The flight cuts nearly three hours off of the current fastest travel time between the two cities, while substantially increasing connectivity between New South Wales and India in time for the upcoming school holidays. Since the route was announced earlier this year, Qantas has seen strong demand in both directions, and yesterday’s inaugural flight was completely sold out in all cabins.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Qantas’ International and Domestic CEO, Andrew David, said,
“The addition of Bengaluru to our route map deepens our ties with India and follows the launch of direct services from Australia to Delhi last year which have also proven popular. Qantas is now the only airline offering direct flights between Australia’s two largest cities and the north and south of India.”
Also commenting on the new route, Sydney Airport’s CEO, Geoff Culbert, added,
“It’s terrific that the important and growing relationship between Australia and India is being reflected in greater aviation connectivity, and we’re delighted to soon welcome passengers on the only direct route between Australia and Southern India.”

Qantas has also recently launched the first phase of their codeshare partnership with India’s largest domestic carrier, IndiGo, which currently offers 11 onward connections from Bengaluru, including service to Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata and Chennai.
To celebrate the route launch, Qantas has added Indian-inspired menu items on the new Bengaluru service such as lamb chettinad in Business Class, as well as paneer makhana, cumin seed pilaf, green peas and beans masala in Economy Class. The new Sydney-Bengaluru route will be operated four times weekly on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with an Airbus A330. The carrier’s complementary Melbourne-Delhi route operates four times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
