On Friday (September 10, 2021), Qantas announced that QantasLink and Jetstar will boost service on the Brisbane-Launceston route from November 1st, 2021. QantasLink will operate three weekly return services with a Boeing 717, while Jetstar will increase from seven to nine the number of weekly Airbus A320 services on the route. The new and increased service marks the eighth new Tasmanian route that Qantas and Jetstar have launched since international borders were closed due to the global COVID019 pandemic.
In Friday’s announcement, Qantas Domestic and International’s CEO, Andrew David, said,
“As the national carrier, we’re delighted to be adding another route into Tasmania and offering Qantas flights between Brisbane and Launceston for the first time. Tasmania has been very popular with travellers in the past year and we’re pleased to be making it easier for Queenslanders to visit the island’s north coast with its historic estates, premium wineries and famous wilderness. More visitors will be great for the Tasmanian economy this summer and these flights will also open up more travel options for Launceston residents to Brisbane and onward Queensland destinations. Our customers and Frequent Flyers will be able to enjoy our premium service on these new flights, whether its complimentary food and drinks, baggage or access to lounges in Brisbane and Launceston.”
To celebrate the new and expanded service on the Brisbane-Launceston route, Qantas is offering introductory one-way fares from only $169. To qualify for the low fares, tickets must be purchased by Sunday September 12, 2021. Customers can book with confidence, as Qantas’ Fly Flexible policy allows unlimited fee-free date changes for travel before February 28, 2022.
