Porter Airlines Launches New Service Between Ottawa and Vancouver

Porter Airlines has today announced Vancouver as their first direct destination in Western Canada from Ottawa. From July 26, 2023, the route will be operated daily with a 132-seat Embraer E195-E2.

On Monday (May 8, 2023), Porter Airlines announced the launch of new direct service to Western Canada with flights between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Starting July 26, 2023, the route will operate once daily with a 132-seat Embraer E195-E2. The new scheduled service will also offer seamless connections to Charlottetown, Halifax, Moncton, New York, Toronto-Pearson, Toronto City and Thunder Bay via Ottawa.


In today’s announcement, Porter Airlines’ EVO and Chief Commercial Officer, Kevin Jackson, said,


“Ottawa is positioned as a critical part of Porter’s growing North American network. We will continue building our presence in YOW and providing a superior level of service and travel options for economy travellers.”


Also commenting on the new service, Ottawa International Airport Authority’s President and CEO, Mark Laroche, said,


“We have eagerly awaited the expansion of Porter’s E195-E2 jet destinations from YOW and are pleased that Vancouver tops the list. Now that Porter reaches Canada’s west and east coasts from YOW, I am confident that Porter’s current passengers and new ones alike will appreciate flying refined on these popular routes.”


Vancouver Airport Authority’s Director – Air Service Development, Russell Atkinson, added,


“We’re excited to welcome Porter Airlines’ new route from YVR to YOW as part of its growing service to Western Canada. This new service provides an additional option for passengers looking for access to Ottawa and beyond into Eastern Canada.”


The new Ottawa-Vancouver route complements Porter’s existing service between Toronto Pearson and Vancouver, which will operate up to five times daily for summer 2023. From July 2023, the carrier will operate 10 nonstop routes to/from Ottawa.
