Porter Airways launched exclusive nonstop service between Ottawa and St. John’s, with the inaugural flight taking to the skies on Thursday (June 6th). The route will now operate daily with a 132-seat Embraer E195-E2.
On Thursday (June 6, 2024), Porter Airlines announced the launch of their inaugural flight between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and St. John’s International Airport (YYT), becoming the only carrier offering nonstop service on the route. The route will operate daily with a 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 jet, offering a two-by-two seating configuration with no middle seats. Guests will enjoy the carrier’s elevated onboard economy service with complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, free premium snacks, as well as complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.
PorterReserve fares also include priority check-in, extra legroom seats, premium mixed cocktails, and fresh, heathy meals. These ancillaries can also be purchased à la carte with PorterClassic fares.
In Thursday’s announcement, Porter Airlines’ President, Kevin Jackson, said,
“St. John’s is an underserved market in Eastern Canada. Our passengers are asking for more new service and it’s exciting that Porter can provide another opportunity to enjoy our elevated economy experience between the nation’s capital and the east coast. This route also complements our growing presence in Ottawa, where we expect to see more than two million passengers travelling on Porter through the capital in 2024.”
Ottawa is one of Porter’s hubs, offering customers flights to over a dozen destinations in Canada and the U.S., including regional service to Fredericton and Thunder Bay, Western Canada cities like Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg, and U.S. transborder flights to Orlando, Boston and New York. By August 2024, Porter will operate as many as 35 daily flights from Ottawa. With the new route, St. John’s passengers can now fly porter nonstop to Ottawa, Halifax and Toronto.
