On Wednesday (November 29, 2023) Embraer announced that Porter Airlines has converted options for 25 E195-E2 jets into a firm order, adding to their existing orderbook for 50 of the aircraft type. The deal is valued at $2.1 billion at list price and will be added to Embraer’s fourth quarter 2023 backlog. In total, Porter now has a firm order for 75 Embraer E195-E2s, with 25 purchase rights remaining. The North American launch customer for the aircraft type, Porter Airlines has already taken delivery of 24 of the state-of-the-art jets. The airline’s E195-E2s are configured with 132 Economy Class seats, with a variety of seat pitches on offer, including 36, 34, and 30 inches.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Porter Airlines’ President and CEO, Michael Deluce, said,

“At Porter, we entered a new era when we began operating the E195-E2 earlier this year. The jet is exceeding our expectations, especially in terms of fuel burn, and delivering an incredible level of customer satisfaction to our passengers with a quiet, comfortable ride. These additional 25 orders enable us to continue extending our reach throughout North America, with more exciting new destinations.”

Also commenting on Porter’s new firm order, Embraer Commercial Aviation’s President and CEO, Arjan Meijer, added,

“Porter Airlines is an exciting disrupter delivering an elevated passenger experience that’s shaking up the North American market. Choosing the E2 to deliver an upgraded service is a huge endorsement of the jet’s comfort and capabilities, and a further endorsement of the E2 – the world’s quietest and most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft.”
