On Saturday (June 14, 2025), Norwegian Air Shuttle announced the launch of their inaugural direct flight between Oslo and Toulouse, France, which took to the skies today.  The summer seasonal route will now operate twice weekly until the end of October 2025.  At the controls of today’s flight was pilot Julien Paul Henri Blanc, a Frenchman living in Norway who has flown for Norwegian since 2016.  For Julien, this was extra special – as he was born and raised in Toulouse.  With the new route, Norwegian increases their capacity to France by 10 percent compared to last summer, and now offers nonstop service to eight exciting destinations in France.

Speaking about the new Toulouse service, Norwegian’s pilot Julien Paul Henri Blanc, said,

“It is incredibly fun, and not least an honor, to be on the first flight to my hometown.  This route makes it easier for me to visit family and friends, and I hope many people take the opportunity to experience Toulouse and the entire Occitanie region.  It is simply magnificent.”

In addition to the summer seasonal service between Oslo and Toulouse, for winter, Norwegian also serves Paris from Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Tromsø.  Additionally, the carrier offers service from Oslo to Lyon, Bordeaux, and Montpellier, as well as to Nice from Oslo, Bergen Trondheim and Stavanger.

Norwegian Air Shuttle was established in September 2002 with four domestic routes and has since carried over 300 million passengers.  The airline Group, including Widerøe, is the largest  in Norway and currently employs approximately 8,200 team members.  Most employees are based in Norway in Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger, or at the company’s head office at Fornebu in Bærum.  The carrier also has offices in Riga and Barcelona, as well as bases in Alicante and Malaga.

The Group’s fleet, including Widerøe, now totals 135 aircraft, with 86 Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 MAX jets in the Norwegian fleet, and 46 De Havilland Canada Dash-8 and three Embraer E190-E2s in Widerøe’s fleet.  Widerøe Ground Handling also serves 41 Norwegian airports.  Norwegian currently offers affordable flights on a short-haul network of destinations in the Nordic countries and to key European destinations.  Norwegian aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 45 percent by 2030.
