Norwegian Group Reports Second Quarter 2025 EBIT of $123.7 Million, Declares Quarterly Dividend

Norwegian Group has reported a second quarter 2025 operating profit (EBIT) of NOK 1.25 billion (US $123.7 million). At June 30, 2025, the carrier had cash and cash equivalents totaling NOK 13.8 billion (US $1.37 billion).

On Friday (July 11, 2025), Norwegian Group, parent company of Norwegian Air Shuttle, reported their second quarter financial results for the period ending June 30, 2025. The company reported a pre-tax profit (EBIT) of NOK 1.25 billion (US $123.7 million) and an operating margin of 12.2 percent, the second best Q2 result in the company’s history. For the first time in their history, Norwegian has declared a quarterly dividend of NOK 0.90 per share (US $0.089), which is payable in August 2025. At June 30, 2025, the company had cash and cash equivalents totaling NOK 13.8 billion (US $1.37 billion).
In Friday’s announcement, Norwegian’s CEO, Geir Karlsen, said,
"We are very pleased to be able to present a quarter with several positive records for both Norwegian and Widerøe. Operating profit and operating margin are the second highest we have ever had in a second quarter. Both the load factor and the number of passengers are also the highest in a second quarter after the pandemic. In addition, we have reached an important milestone as Norwegian will pay a dividend of NOK 0.90 per share for the first time in the company's 23-year history.”

During the second quarter, the Norwegian Group carried 7.6 million passengers, of which 6.5 million flew with Norwegian and 1.1 million with Widerøe. Compared to the same period last year, the number of passengers increased by 192,000 for Norwegian and 82,000 for Widerøe. Norwegian’s average load factor for the second quarter was 85.2 percent, an increase of 2.8 percentage points compared to last year, while Widerøe had a load factor of 73.9 percent, an increase of 3.7 percentage points versus last year.
Norwegian Air Shuttle was established in September 2002 with four domestic routes and has since carried over 300 million passengers. The airline Group, including Widerøe, is the largest in Norway and currently employs approximately 8,200 team members. Most employees are based in Norway in Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger, or at the company’s head office at Fornebu, just outside of Oslo. The carrier also has offices in Riga and Barcelona, as well as bases in Alicante and Malaga. During 2024, Norwegian carried 22.6 million passengers.
The Group’s fleet, including Widerøe, now totals 135 aircraft, with 86 Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 MAX jets in the Norwegian fleet, and 46 De Havilland Canada Dash-8 and three Embraer E190-E2s in Widerøe’s fleet. Widerøe Ground Handling also serves 41 Norwegian airports. Norwegian currently offers affordable flights on a short-haul network of destinations in the Nordic countries and to key European destinations. Norwegian aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 45 percent by 2030.
