On Friday (February 24, 2023), Norwegian Air Shuttle announced the launch of a new look and added benefits as they renew their Norwegian Reward loyalty program. While earning CashPoints and benefits will remain at the core of the program, customers who fly most often will unlock even more perks. From spring 2023, Reward members will receive a new benefit for every eighth flight over a 12-month period. The first benefit is always an extra 2% CashPoints on all Norwegian tickets, and then members can choose their preferred benefit. In addition to free checked luggage, seat reservation, fast track and 2% more CashPoints, members can now also select free carry-on baggage as their next benefit.

In Friday’s announcement, Norwegian Air Shuttle’s Marketing Director, Christoffer Sundby, said,

“Our members have said that the benefits they can choose from are among the most important benefits in the Reward programme. In addition to greater flexibility when choosing benefits, we are now also adding a long-awaited benefit, namely free hand luggage. More and more business travelers are choosing to fly with us on Norwegian. This is a customer group we know particularly appreciates our punctuality and regularity. That is why we are now introducing tailored benefits for those who fly with us the most. Our aim is to offer comfortable, seamless and efficient journeys with that little extra. We are looking forward to launching the new benefits during the spring.”

Norwegian’s most frequent flyers will also receive several more unique benefits from spring 2023. Customers with over 32 flights per year will have access to all Reward benefits, plus new perks including free coffee and tea on catered flights, no expiration on CashPoints and priority customer service. Norwegian Reward members will continue to earn CashPoints every time they fly, make purchases with program partners, or use their Norwegian co-branded credit card. The number of CashPoints earned depends on the fare, with 1% for LowFare tickets, 2% for LowFare+ tickets and 5% on Flex tickets. One CashPoint corresponds to one Norwegian krone, and CashPoints can be used to pay in whole or part for airline tickets, checked baggage, seat reservations, pre-ordered meals and more. There are no restrictions on the number of available seats per flight for those who want to use CashPoints. All program changes will be effective starting March 28, 2023.

Norwegian Air Shuttle was founded in 1993, but the low-cost airline with Boeing 737 aircraft began flying in 2002, offering smart and pleasant travel experiences at low prices. The airline has been voted ‘Europe’s Best Low-Cost Airline’ by Skytrax for the last six years. Norwegian’s loyalty program, Norwegian Rewards, has also been voted ‘The Airline Industry’s Best Loyalty Program in Europe/Africa’ at the Freddie Awards four years in a row. In 2019, Norwegian became the first airline to sign the UN Climate Action Programme, committing to becoming climate neutral by 2050. The carrier currently offers affordable flights on a short-haul network of destinations in the Nordic countries and to key European destinations.
