Norse Atlantic Airways Celebrates Inaugural Flight From London Gatwick to Washington D.C.

Norse Atlantic Airways celebrated the launch of new service between London Gatwick and Washington D.C. on Thursday (June 1st). This is Norse’s fourth U.S. destination served from Gatwick, joining New York, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.

On Friday (June 2, 2023), Norse Atlantic Airways announced the launch of inaugural service between London Gatwick (LGW) and Washington D.C. (IAD), with the first flight departing Gatwick on Thursday, June 1st, 2023. The carrier now serves four U.S. destinations from LGW, including New York, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. New service from London to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston will also be commencing soon. Flights to Washington D.C. will operate six times weekly with return fares from £450 including taxes.


In Friday’s announcement, Norse Atlantic Airways’ CEO, Bjørn Tore Larsen, said,


“We are pleased to now be able to provide travellers with greater choice and affordable fares on the first service linking London Gatwick and Washington Dulles. These two capital cities are perfect destinations for both leisure and business travellers, we look forward to a busy summer ahead as we become Gatwick’s largest carrier to the US.”


Norse Atlantic’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners are configured with Economy and Premium cabins, and customers can choose between Light, Classic and Plus fares. Light fares represent the best value, while Plus fares include the maximum baggage allowance, two meal services and an enhanced airport and onboard experience and added ticket flexibility. Each seat is equipped with a state-of-the art inflight entertainment (IFE) experience, and Premium cabin seats feature a generous 43-inch seat pitch and a comfortable 12-inch recline.


Founded in March 2021 by major shareholder and CEO Bjørn Tore Larsen, Norse Atlantic Airways offers affordable transatlantic and European flights. The airline’s first flight between Oslo and the U.S. departed on June 14, 2022. The company’s head office is located in Arendal, Norway, and Norse has a second office in London. Norse has a fleet of 15 modern, fuel-efficient Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The carrier offers service to New York, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Miami, Washington, San Francisco, Boston, Oslo, Paris, Rome, London, Berlin, Bangkok and Barbados, as well as Kingston and Montego Bay in Jamaica
