Norse Atlantic Airways has appointed Ben Boiling as the carrier’s new Chief Financial Officer. Additionally, the company has also named James Lightbourn as Chief Strategy and Investment Officer.
On Wednesday (February 23, 2022), Norse Atlantic Airways announced the appointment of Ben Boiling as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer, and James Lightbourn as the airline’s new Chief Strategy and Investment Officer. Mr. Boiling previously served as Senior Vice President Finance and Corporate for Norse, while James Lightbourn served as Chief Financial Officer. Both men are part of the founding team of Norse Atlantic Airways. Ben Boiling is a Chartered Accountment with extensive senior financial management experience with several Oslo-listed companies, and most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of ADS Maritime Holding Plc. He also previously worked for EY and is a State Registered Auditor in Norway.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Norse Atlantic Airways’ CEO, Bjørn Tore Larsen, said,
“Both Ben and James have been instrumental to establishing Norse and preparing the organization for take-off. With operations to commence in the second quarter, we are making these adjustments to position ourselves for the next phase of the company. I am very pleased that Ben will become a part of the leadership team as Chief Financial Officer and that James will step into the new role as Chief Strategy and Investment Officer. I look forward to collaborating with them and the rest of Team Norse to make this airline a great success.”
James Lightbourn has played a critical role in the founding of Norse and previously served as an Investment Director of Shiphold Management Services Ltd, before joining the airline as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Lightbourn has spent his career as a financier to the transportation sector as a banker, private equity investor and asset owner.
Norse Atlantic Airways will operate a fleet of modern, state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners. So far, the carrier has taken delivery of four aircraft which are currently parked at Oslo Airport. The remaining 11 aircraft will be delivered consecutively over the next few months.
Founded in March 2021 by CEO and Major Shareholder Bjørn Tore Larsen, Norse Atlantic Airways’ vision is to be ‘The Explorer Airline’, offering affordable transatlantic flights. Once all 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners are delivered, the company expects to employ a dedicated group of 1,600 team members, both on the ground and in the air. Norse Atlantic will operate long-haul routes primarily between Europe and the U.S., with service to destinations including New York, Florida, Paris, London and Oslo, among others.
