On Tuesday (March 26, 2024), Air France-KLM announced the inauguration of their new Air&Rail Terminal at Brussels-South station.  The elegant new space has been completely renovated, offering guests new spaces, demonstrating the commitment of both airlines to elevate the travel experience for customers using rail to reach the Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) hubs.

In Tuesday’s announcement, KLM’s Chairman and CEO, Marjan Rintel, said,

“We are proud to continue to invest in our Air&Rail offering.  We are doing everything we can to offer our customers a seamless intermodal experience, integrating the train as an alternative to the plane on short routes in Europe.  In close collaboration with our partners, we are optimizing the Air&Rail offer to facilitate access to more than 300 destinations around the world via Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.”

Air France and KLM have offered customers traveling to/from Belgium the opportunity to combine train and air journeys on the same reservation for over 20 years.  With Air&Rail, customers have a single reservation for their entire trip, and are also guaranteed a seat on the next available flight or train, at no additional cost, in the event of a delay.  Eligible Flying Blue loyalty members can accumulate Miles, have priority access to check-in counters thanks to SkyPriority, and can also enjoy the Eurostar lounge at the Brussels South station.  Additional benefits include more baggage allowance and free access to seat options onboard their flight.

Air France customers connecting at CDG benefit from check-in of their baggage from Brussels-Midi station to their final destination, and travel fast aboard the TGV INOUI.  From June 15th through August 22, 2024, a seventh daily frequency will be added between Brussels-Midi and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.  KLM SkyPriority customers connecting from a train will enjoy priority check-in, boarding, baggage transfer, along with priority queuing and immigration at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.  Customers transiting through AMS on an intermodal itinerary have had the ability to check-in online from 30 hours before departure, for their entire journey, including train travel on Eurostar since 2022.  The Brussels-Midi Air&Rail Terminal is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
