Mexicana celebrated their inaugural Embraer E195-E2 passenger revenue flight on Monday, August 25, 2025, with service from Felipe Ángeles International Airport Mexico City to Tulum.

On Monday (August 25, 2025), Mexicana announced the launch of their inaugural Embraer E195-E2 passenger revenue flight. The aircraft, registration XA-MXA, departed on Monday from Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU) in Mexico City with service to Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport (TQO) in Tulum. With this inaugural revenue flight, Mexicana is now the only Mexican airline operating this latest-generation Embraer E2 Family jet.
To date, Mexicana has taken delivery of two of 20 new-generation E2 Family jets on order, including 10 E190-E2s and 10 E195-E2s. The deal, announced in 2024, represents a strategic investment by Mexico’s state-owned carrier to enhance connectivity and operational efficiency. Between September and December 2025, Mexicana will receive three more E195-E2 aircraft, which will progressively replace the airline’s Boeing 737-800NG airplanes.
The E190-E2 and E195-E2 are part of Embraer’s E-Jets E2 Family. These state-of-the-art aircraft deliver a smaller noise footprint, reduced fuel use and emissions, and class-leading economics compared to previous generation aircraft. The E2 jets are also equipped with full fly-by-wire technology, which reduces pilot workload and enhances safety. Additionally, Mexicana’s E2 fleet will be supported by Embraer’s comprehensive Services & Support organization, ensuring high aircraft availability and operational reliability.
