Malaysia Airlines Takes Delivery of First of 25 New Boeing 737-8 MAX Jets on Lease From ALC

Malaysia Airlines Berhad has taken delivery of their first of 25 new Boeing 737-8 MAX airplanes on lease from Air Lease Corporation (ALC) from the lessor’s orderbook with Boeing.

On Tuesday (November 21, 2023), Air Lease Corporation (ALC) announced the delivery of the first of 25 new Boeing 737-8 MAX jets on lease to Malaysia Airlines Berhad from their orderbook with Boeing.  The new 737-8 is powered by CFM International LEAP 1B-27 engines.  Since 2015, Malaysia Airlines has been part of the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), a global aviation organization comprised of different business portfolios with the goal of serving air travel needs throughout Malaysia.  Malaysia Airlines carries up to 40,000 guests daily, delivering memorable journeys inspired by Malaysia’s rich diversity, culture and hospitality across all customer touchpoints. 


In Tuesday’s announcement, Air Lease Corporation’s Executive Chairman, Steven Udvar-Házy, said,


“We are thrilled to announce ALC’s first of 25 new Boeing 737-8 aircraft delivered to Malaysia Airlines.  Our significant deal for 25 new Boeing 737-8 aircraft with MAB is a milestone transaction that demonstrates ALC’s commitment to the national carrier’s long-term fleet modernization and sustainability program.  We are honored to be the first to introduce the 737-8 to the airline.”
