Malaysia Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IndiGo for the establishment of a codeshare partnership, which will provide improved connectivity to India and Southeast Asia for customers of both airlines.
On Wednesday (April 3, 2024), Malaysia Airlines announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Indigo to establish a codeshare partnership and joint business cooperation. Through this agreement, Malaysia airlines will strengthen their connectivity in India by placing their marketing code on IndiGo operated flights. Likewise, IndiGo customers will enjoy seamless access to destinations across Southeast Asia vis Malaysia Airlines’ extensive network.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Malaysia Aviation Group’s Managing Director, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, said,
“With India being our largest international market, we are delighted to enter this MoU with IndiGo to further widen our reach beyond the nine hubs we currently operate within India. This collaboration underscores our ongoing commitment to providing diverse travel options and flexibility to this growing aviation market, with a primary focus on enhancing the customer journey. We look forward to fostering cultural exchange and making travel more accessible for both Malaysia Airlines and IndiGo passengers as we extend our inimitable Malaysian Hospitality to ensure a warm and welcoming experience for all our guests.”
Also commenting on the proposed codeshare partnership, IndiGo’s CEO, Pieter Elbers, said,

Currently, Malaysia Airlines operate 71 flights weekly to nine key destinations in India, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Amritsar and Trivandrum.
