Lufthansa has announced the launch of first-time service to Rovaniemi in the Finnish Lapland, the home of Santa Claus, for winter 2024/25. Starting November 30, 2024, the route will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
On Thursday (May 23, 2024), Lufthansa announced that they will offer service to Rovaniemi in the Finnish Lapland as part of their winter 2024/25 flying program for the first time ever. From Frankfurt, the route to Rovaniemi will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays starting November 30, 2024, just in time for the festive Christmas season. The carrier will also extend service between Frankfurt and Chișinău, as well as flights between Munich and Nantes for the winter season. Flights on all of these routes are now bookable through all standard distribution channels.

Rovaniemi the capital of Lapland in northern Finland, and is known as the ‘official’ home of Santa Claus. Surrounded by pristine nature, Rovaniemi is located on the Arctic Circle and is the perfect starting point to view the spectacular Northern Lights, or to visit exceptional cross-country ski resorts. With the new service, Lufthansa will now serve six destinations in Finland, including Helsinki, Oulu, Kittilä, Ivalo, Kuusamo and now, Rovaniemi. Lufthansa flight LH852 will depart Frankfurt at 08:50, and will land in Rovaniemi at 12:50, while the return flight, LH853, will depart Rovaniemi at 13:50 and will touch down back in Frankfurt at 15:50 (all times local).
