Lufthansa customers can now conveniently check-in for their flights at Seoul Station City-Airport Terminal, with bags checked to their final destination, as well as complete immigration procedures prior to arrival at Seoul-Incheon International Airport.
On Wednesday (May 29, 2024), Lufthansa announced that customers can now check-in for flights at Seoul Station City-Airport Terminal, becoming the only foreign airline offering such services in Korea. Customers can now obtain their boarding passes, have their bags checked through to the final destination, as well as complete all immigration procedures prior to arriving at Seoul-Incheon International Airport (ICN). Lufthansa first launched service between Frankfurt and Seoul on October 31st, 1984, with a stop in Anchorage, Alaska. The inaugural Boeing 747 flight made Seoul the carrier’s 128th city in their expanding global network.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Lufthansa Group’s Country Manager – Korea, Leandro Tonidandel, said,
“At Lufthansa Group, we are transforming the travel journey with every step. Our pioneering check-in facility at Seoul's main train station redefines convenience while championing sustainability, offering travelers a seamless and eco-friendly journey.”
For the first time outside of Europe, Lufthansa has established an intermodal (Rail & Air) partnership with Korean rail provider KTX. This allows customers to travel seamlessly on one ticket to eight domestic destinations in Korea by rail, including Busan, Dongdaegu, Gwangju, Ulsan, Pohang, Yeosu, Mokpo and Jinju. Customers using Lufthansa’s Rail & Air solution with KTX, or passengers taking the Airport Rail Express (AREX) from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport, can now enjoy a seamless journey with Lufthansa. With Lufthansa’s recent announcement of 17 weekly frequencies between Europe and South Korea, as well as all-new service between Zurich and Seoul with SWISS, this new rail terminal check-in facility further reinforces the Group’s commitment to South Korea.
