On Thursday (February 25, 2021), the Lufthansa Group announced that their summer 2021 leisure travel offer will be stronger than ever with around 20 new leisure destinations from Frankfurt and 13 new destinations from Munich. The Group’s summer offer will include the most extensive range of vacation destinations in years, demonstrating the company’s deep knowledge of the leisure market. The summer flying program will include a special focus on the Caribbean, the Canary Islands and Greece.

In Thursday’s announcement, Deutsche Lufthansa AG’s Member of the Executive Board, Harry Hohmeister, said,

“Our leisure travel program for summer 2021 is stronger than ever. We expect many countries to relax travel restrictions towards the summer as more and more people have been vaccinated. We know that demand will increase sharply as soon as travel restrictions are removed - and we are well equipped to meet this with our excellent range of products and offers. There is a great yearning for travel, and we believe that the summer months will reflect this.”

The Group will continue to offer classic city and vacation destinations, while this summer’s focus in Europe will be on service to the Canary islands and Greece. Travelers from Frankfurt and Munich will enjoy more choices when booking travel to the popular Greek and Spanish holiday islands. From Frankfurt, the Group’s guests will enjoy other attractive destinations including Paphos (Cyprus), Rijeka (Croatia), Lamezia Terme (Italy), Djerba (Tunisia), Ponta Delgada (Azores/Portugal) and Varna (Bulgaria). Bavarian guests traveling from Munich will also enjoy new service to Jerez (Spain) and Hurghada (Egypt), as well as the Greek destinations of Chania, Mykonos, Kos, Kavalla, Zakynthos and Preveza.

The Lufthansa Group’s new leisure travel airline, Eurowings Discover, will offer numerous long-haul flights from Frankfurt including three new weekly flights to Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and twice-weekly flights to Mombasa (Kenya) with continuing service to the dream island of Zanzibar (Tanzania). Mauritius and Malé will also become year-round destinations with twice-weekly, and up to three flights weekly, respectively. Additionally, starting in June, Lufthansa will offer new nonstop service between Frankfurt and Anchorage, Alaska, in the U.S., which will operate three times weekly.

For next winter, Eurowings Discover will also offer three weekly flights between Frankfurt and Montego Bay (Jamaica) from November 1st, as well as three weekly flights from Rhein-Main Airport to Varadero (Cuba), from November 2, 2021. Summer 2021 flights booked by May 31, 2021 offer unlimited free rebooking. After that date, one additional flight may be rebooked for free, but may be subject to fare differences if, for example, the original booking class is not available.
