On Wednesday (August 20, 2025), Lufthansa Group marked their 60th anniversary of service to Singapore, with the company’s inaugural flight touching down in Lion City on June 20, 1965. This milestone is even more special as 2025 marks Singapore’s own 60th anniversary. Over the past six decades, Lufthansa has not only provided seamless travel but also contributed to Singapore’s role as a key global hub. The carrier’s influence has been pivotal in enhancing both business and leisure travel, offering customers from Singapore direct connections to major European cities and beyond. In addition to their own daily, nonstop flights, Lufthansa Group has a strong partnership and Joint Venture with Singapore Airlines.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Lufthansa Group’s Senior Director Sales – Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Brendan Shashoua, said,
“As an important gateway to the region, Singapore is integral to our Southeast Asia strategy. Coincidentally, as Singapore celebrates 60 years of independence, we also celebrate 60 years of flights to the Lion City. With an investment that goes back six decades, we now operate 20 weekly flights, connecting Singapore each day to our hubs in Frankfurt, Munich & Zurich.”
