From mid-August, Lufthansa Business Class guests traveling on long-haul flights from Germany will be able to choose from a wider main dish selection. The carrier has also expanded their range of hot beverages on European flights in recyclable cups.
On Thursday (July 27, 2023), Lufthansa announced an expansion of their onboard service offering with more main dish and beverage choices, the introduction of a recyclable cup, and added entertainment options. From mid-August, Business Class guests traveling on long-haul flights from Germany will be able to choose from a wider selection of main dishes as early as a month and up to 24 hours prior to departure. In total, six different regional and seasonal menus will be available for pre-selection, making for a more relaxed onboard experience, while optimizing food use and reducing waste.
As early as August 1st, the carrier will expand their range of hot beverages in their Onboard Delights Service on European flights. The airline will also introduce a new, sustainable reusable cup made from recycled plastic, replacing the previous single-use plastic cup and lid. In addition to high quality coffee specialties, such as latte Macchiato, three tea choices and hot chocolate will also be available for purchase and will be served in the new sustainable cup. Lufthansa Group passenger airlines have set the goal of completely eliminating single-use plastic and single-use aluminum onboard by 2025.
Additionally, Lufthansa is expanding their long-haul entertainment offer for kids and teens. In the future, the carrier’s ‘e-journals’ media library will include a larger range of age-appropriate reading selections in the Children’s Media Box, with more journals and magazines in various languages available for free downloading. Coloring pages are also available to help the youngest passengers pass the time at the gate or onboard. New children’s podcasts are also available free of charge on the FlyNet portal on short and medium-haul flights. For summer 2023, over 50 films and TV programs and many audio selections are available for young guests on Lufthansa’s long-haul flights. Children’s TV and audio programs can be accessed free of charge via QR codes at Lufthansa gates and playgrounds in Terminal 2 in Munich, and at Terminal 1 in Frankfurt.
