Lufthansa Cargo has started transpacific service between Vietnam and the U.S. The first direct freighter flight, operated by JV subsidiary AeroLogic, departed Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, October 27th with service to Los Angeles.
On Tuesday (October 29, 2024), Lufthansa Cargo announced the launch of transpacific service between Vietnam and then U.S. Operated by the company’s joint venture partner AeroLogic, flight LH8019 departed Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) for Los Angeles (LAX) on Sunday October 27, 2024. The aircraft, registration D-AALO, previously flew from Frankfurt (FRA) to Vietnam on Saturday October 26th, and after flying to LAX on October 27th, returned to the carrier’s Frankfurt hub on Monday, October 28, 2024.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo’s CEO, Ashwin Bhat, said,
“This new freighter connection highlights our commitment to connecting economies by responding to the demand of the rapidly growing economy in Vietnam, which can now be seamlessly connected to the U.S. even faster. This service reinforces our purpose of enabling global business, which is why we are continuously examining the possibilities of establishing new routes and growing in dynamic market environments.”
With the new transpacific service, Lufthansa Cargo currently offers 89 weekly Boeing 777 Freighter connections worldwide, including 50 frequencies to 17 destinations in Asia. In addition to the dedicated 777 Freighters, Lufthansa Cargo operates Airbus A321 Freighters on short and medium haul routes, and along with belly hold capacity on Lufthansa Group airlines, will offer cargo capacity to over 350 destinations across 100 countries this winter.
