On Tuesday (May 14, 2024), Lufthansa Cargo announced an expansion of their North American Network with new service from Frankfurt to Monterrey via Mexico City.  Customers can now book freight on the route with operations to start on June 3, 2024.  The entire route will operate from Frankfurt (FRA) to Mexico City (NLU) and then Monterrey (MTY) before returning direct to Frankfurt.  A Boeing 777F will operate on the new route once weekly on Mondays, providing capacity for enterprises, especially automotive suppliers, electronics providers and customers transporting medical products.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo’s CEO, Ashwin Bhat, said,

“We are pleased to add Monterrey as a further station to our freighter network for our customers.  Connecting the business and industrial city of Monterrey with the European market as the first European cargo airline underscores our strategic growth into new markets and underlines our purpose of Enabling Global Business.  With this new addition, Lufthansa Cargo will serve North America with up to 33 freighter frequencies weekly and South America with up to 4 frequencies weekly in addition to the belly flights.”

Additionally, Lufthansa Cargo has added an interim stop in Dubai (DWC) on their dedicated freighter route between Shanghai and Frankfurt.  For summer 2024, the logistics expert will also expand their belly-hold network with further connections to North America.  This will include Lufthansa flights from Frankfurt to Minneapolis and Raleigh Durham and Austrian Airlines’ flights from Vienna to Boston and Los Angeles, as well as Discover Airlines' flights from Frankfurt to Anchorage and Halifax.  This summer, Brussels Airlines will also add more connections from Brussels to Nairobi and Kigali.  Lufthansa Airline has also added more destinations from Munich, including service to Trondheim (Norway), Nantes (France), Oulu (Finland), and Chișinău (Moldova), along with Seattle, Toronto and Vancouver.

In total, Lufthansa Cargo will offer freight capacity on up to 7,000 weekly flights across the Group.  This summer, the freight expert will also increase their short and medium-haul Airbus A321P2F freighter fleet network, with a new interim stop in Riga, Latvia on the route between Frankfurt and Helsinki.
