Lufthansa Cargo Appoints Frank Bauer as COO, and Frank Schleussner as new CFO and CHRO

Lufthansa Cargo has today announced changes in the Executive Board with the appointment of Frank Bauer as Chief Operating Officer, and Gregor Schleussner as the carrier’s new Chief Financial and Chief Human Resources Officer.

On Friday (May 16, 2025), Lufthansa Cargo announced the appointment of Frank Bauer, currently Chief Financial Officer and Labor Director of Lufthansa Cargo AG, as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Lufthansa Cargo effective July 1, 2025.  Additionally, Gregor Schleussner, currently Head of Finance, Controlling & Accounting at Eurowings, will join the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Labor Director from July 1, 2025.

 

In Friday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo AG’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Michael Niggemann, said,


“We are very pleased to welcome Gregor Schleussner as the new CFO and Labor Director at Lufthansa Cargo.  As an experienced aviation executive, he has already proven his financial expertise, problem-solving skills and unifying manner in various management positions within the Lufthansa Group.  We are also very pleased to appoint Frank Bauer as the new COO of Lufthansa Cargo.  His technical background combined with his extensive experience in the air cargo sector will be instrumental in ensuring the continued success of the company. Under the leadership of CEO Ashwin Bhat, the now re-completed Executive Board will seize future market opportunities and further develop Lufthansa Cargo’s strong global position together with the company’s employees. I personally wish the Executive Board in its new composition every success!


Following his Engineering studies, Frank Bauer, Lufthansa Cargo’s new COO, began his career at Lufthansa Cargo in 2007, before joining Jade Cargo in China three years later.  In 2012, he returned to Deutsche Lufthansa AG, and took on numerous management positions in the subsequent years, including Head of Audit at Lufthansa Group, member of Eurowings’ Board with responsibility for Finance and Human Resources, and head of the Group’s Controlling and Risk management.  Since August 1st, 2023, he has been responsible for Finance and Human Resources at Lufthansa Cargo as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Human Resources Officer and Labor Director.


Gregor Schleussner, Lufthansa Cargo’s new CFO and CHRO, joined Lufthansa after his International Studies in 2006, as part of the ProTeam management program.  After holding a variety of positions in areas such as Product Management and Sales, he became Manager of Investor Relations in 2009.  He later moved to Corporate Controlling at Deutsche Lufthansa AG in 2015, where he was responsible for the management of passenger airlines and aviation services companies such as Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Technik, LSG and AirPlus.  From 2017, he headed to the Lufthansa Group CEO Office, and has served as Head of Finance, Controlling & Accounting at Eurowings since 2021.
