On Thursday (July 24, 2025), LOT Polish Airlines unveiled the first set of seats for their first of 13 ordered Boeing 737-8 MAX jets, which is scheduled for delivery by the end of this year. The modern, comfortable, and lightweight RECARO R2 seats have been completed at the RECARO Aircraft Seating factory in Świebodzin, Poland. The same seats will also be installed in LOT’s Airbus A220s, which were ordered at the Paris Air Show. In total, LOT will take delivery of approximately 14,000 modern, ergonomic seats – all made in Poland, with passenger comfort as a top priority.
In Thursday’s announcement, LOT Polish Airlines’ CEO, Michał Fijoł, said,
“LOT’s decision to equip its new aircraft with RECARO seats was driven by a commitment to passenger comfort, durability, and quality. An added benefit is the fact that the seats are produced in Poland. Manufacturing in Świebodzin directly supports local jobs and serves as a strong example of international collaboration with local impact.”
RECARO’s R2 seats combine lightweight construction with advanced ergonomics, and feature a 60W power outlet for fast charging of electronic devices, as well as a device holder for a tablet or smartphone. Each seat weighs less than1 0 kg, helping to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The seats are also equipped with six-way adjustable headrests, extended armrests, contoured backrests with comfort-enhancing foam, and lightweight sliding tray tables.
