On Thursday (September 5, 2024), Loganair announced the appointment of Rebecca Borreson as Director of Safety and Sustainability effective October 1st, 2024.  In her new role, Ms. Borreson will be responsible for delivering Loganair’s safety and sustainability strategies, ensuring the carrier maintains a ‘gold standard’ approach to both of these mission critical areas.  Borreson brings extensive experience in safety, risk and project management within the aviation industry and other major industries, and has played key roles in the formulation and delivery of sustainability initiatives.  She has worked across the oil and gas industry, delivering continuous improvement within process safety and hazards management, and was ultimately responsible for the UK offshore industry’s Aviation Safety Brief.

In Thursday’s announcement, Loganair’s CEO, Luke Farajallah, said,

“This is another key appointment for Loganair as we continue to attract exceptional people to our already talented team.  I am especially pleased that we have attracted someone who learnt her craft in the heavily regulated and safety-driven environment of the Oil & Gas industry. Bringing together people who have wide-ranging industry experience and from diverse backgrounds is a fundamental part of what makes any company successful.  There are few subjects more relevant and important to an airline than Safety and aircraft Sustainability.  Rebecca will also be heavily involved in our partnership with Hybrid-Electric aircraft manufacturer Heart Aerospace as we push forward on our decarbonisation agenda.  We welcome Rebecca to the Loganair team as we strive for excellence in everything we do as we build a bright and sustainable future.”

Rebecca previously worked for Babcock Offshore Helicopters as Safety Manager, where she was responsible for developing and implementing an improved safety management system (SMS).  After working in engineering risk management, she joined Helicopter Air Ambulance provider Specialist Aviation Services (now Gama Aviation), first as Safety Manager and later as COO, where she delivered a new, industry-leading SMS.  Most recently, she served as Chief Operations Officer for Eco-Jet.
