Kuwait Airways Recognized by Guangzhou Airport for Completing 100 flights Since Pandemic Onset

Kuwait Airways has been recognized by Mr. Qiu Jiachen, Chairman of the Board of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, for completing 100 flights since the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, carrying over 10,000 passengers, as well as cargo.

On Saturday (June 19, 2021), Kuwait Airways announced that they have been recognized by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport’s Chairman of the Board, Mr. Qiu Jiachen, for the completion of 100 flights, carrying over 10,000 passengers and cargo since the onset of the pandemic. Kuwait Airways was the first international airline to resume service to Guangzhou Airport since flights were suspended due to COVID-19. The airline’s Chairman, Mr. Ali Al-Dukhan, received a letter of thanks and congratulations from Mr. Qiu Jiachen which expressed appreciation for Kuwait Airways’ role in maintaining the stability and growth of trade between the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China.


Commenting on the message, Kuwait Airways’ Chairman, Mr. Ali Al-Dukhan, said,

“Mr. Qiu Jiachen’s message confirms that Kuwait Airways is on a steady and right path towards achieving its desired objectives and implementing its plans prepared by the Board of Directors to develop the Blue Bird so as to meet the requirements of our valued customers, achieve their complete satisfaction with our services and what is offered to them on board, and to operate and launch new and diverse destinations, despite the current conditions that the commercial aviation sector is experiencing around the world due to the Coronavirus (COVID- 19) pandemic and its impact on commercial operations.”

During 2020, Guangzhou International Airport served approximately 43.7 million passengers, one of the highest among global airports. The airport has implemented numerous health and safety measures, including the vaccination of around 95 percent of employees. Kuwait Airways’ Chairman, Mr. Ali Al-Dukhan, concluded his statement by thanking the airline’s employees for their sincere efforts and outstanding performance, especially during the pandemic period.
