Kuwait Airways and SAUDIA Ink Codeshare Agreement

Kuwait Airways and SAUDIA have signed a codeshare agreement that will enhance connectivity for customers of both airlines. As part of the agreement, each airline will place the others airline’s marketing code on flights operated between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

On Sunday (May 14, 2023), Kuwait Airways, the national carrier of the State of Kuwait, announced the signing of a new codeshare agreement with SAUDIA, the national flag carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The signing ceremony took place on Sunday at SAUDIA’s headquarters in Jeddah and will enhance convenience and connectivity to guests of both airlines. As part of the agreement, each airline will place the other airline’s marketing code on flights between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and beyond, subject to all approvals. The carriers have also agreed to expand interline cooperation, with implementation of the further commercial cooperation expected to be implemented for summer 2023.


In Sunday’s announcement, Kuwait Airways’ Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Maen Razouqi, said,


“We welcome SAUDIA as our Strategic Codeshare partner. The new beginning of this Codeshare partnership will support Kuwait Airways and SAUDIA operations between the two countries, beyond routes and allow more travel options, facilities for the public as well as seamless transfer for both their Business and leisure travel. Passengers will be able to book directly on these flights through our offices, website, APP and agents' reservation system. The codeshare partnership will support our operations to multiple destinations and the respective short, medium, and long-haul operating routes around the world such as Tunis, Addis Ababa, Riyadh, Los Angeles, and Washington.


“This strategic partnership envelopes Kuwait Airways transformation Beyond Excellence program that keeps the customers comfort and convenience always in the forefront of any business decision. We aim in providing the best expanded network choice to our customers either organically or through partnerships with esteemed airlines like SAUDIA. Furthermore, this Codeshare Partnership will not only enhance the relationship between the two airlines but also the strong relationship between the two brotherly States, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. On this occasion, I would like to thank Captain Ibrahim Koshy, SAUDIA CEO and both the teams for their efforts in making this Codeshare/Interline Agreements effective.


“Both Kuwait Airways and SAUDIA are also working on incorporating the Frequent Flyer Program for codeshare flights, so that guests can be rewarded with the benefits of such programs. Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, SAUDIA’s CEO, Captain Ibrahim Koshy, said,

Kuwait Airways operates six daily flights between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, while SAUDIA operates four daily flights between the Kingdom and Kuwait. Under the new codeshare, guests will enjoy seamless connectivity, baggage transfer, and the convenience of having their entire journey managed by one airline. Both airlines are also working to incorporate their respective frequent flyer programs for codeshared flights so that guests can be rewarded with additional benefits.


As part of the Kingdom’s National Tourism Strategy, SAUDIA connects guests to over 100 destinations worldwide via their state-of-the-art hub at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and other stations across Saudi Arabia. The carrier recently launched new service to Kano (Nigeria), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Beijing (China), London Gatwick and Birmingham (UK), the Republic of Djibouti, Nice (France) and Johannesburg (South Africa). Kuwait airways also recently introduced 13 new destinations for summer 2023, including service to Athens (Greece), Antalya (Turkey), Nice (France) and Malaga (Spain).
