Korean Air Announces Upgrades to Dietary Meals with Enhanced Favor and More Nutritional Value

Korean Air has announced a renewal of their selection of special inflight dietary meals.  The enhancements reflect the latest health trends and guest feedback, with improvements to ingredients, preparation methods, taste and nutritional value.

On Thursday (September 4, 2025), Korean Air announced the renewal of their selection of special in-flight dietary meals, with updated menus for seven meal types effective September 1, 2025.  The new enhancements reflect the latest health trends and guest feedback, with improvements to ingredients, preparation method, taste and nutritional value.  Developed over a six-month collaboration with the nutrition team at Inha University Hospital, the new selections incorporate the latest clinical dietary guidelines for various health conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hypertension.


In Thursday’s announcement, a Korean Air spokesperson, said,

 

“This meal renewal reflects our commitment to supporting the evolving health and wellness needs of our passengers.  By enhancing our dietary meal options, we aim to provide a safer, healthier and more enjoyable in-flight dining experience.”


In the new selection of low-fat, diabetic and low-calorie meals, carbohydrates have been reduced and vegetable portions increased to help moderate blood sugar levels.  Additionally, antioxidant-rich, colorful vegetables are included, while lean proteins such as fish and chicken are used in place of red meat.

For guests who prefer bland meals, vegetables are peeled and gently cooked for easier digestion, while high-fat ingredients and strong spices are excluded. A wider variety of soft fresh fruits like watermelon, melon and pear have also been added based on guest feedback.

Korean Air guests who are gluten-intolerant will enjoy meals where rice flour is used as a substitute for wheat flour in bread and soups.  In order to prevent cross-contamination, no commercial products produced in facilities that also process wheat are used.


The refreshed low-salt meals contain less than 1g (400mg of sodium).  Flavors have also been enhanced enhanced with unsalted butter, plant-based oils, and aromatic vegetables, replacing salt-heavy seasonings.


For those who are lactose-intolerant, dairy products have been excluded and replaced with lactose-free or plant-based alternatives.  Based on customer feedback, breakfast now features lactose-free Greek yogurt instead of soy milk.


Guests wishing to order special dietary meals in all cabin classes on flights departing Korea up to 24 hours prior to departure through Korean Air’s website or service center.
