BARIG Welcomes AJet as Newest Airline Association Member

BARIG has today announced that AJet has become the association’s newest airline member. AJet is Türkiye’s youngest low-cost carrier, and a growing subsidiary of Turkish Airlines.

On Wednesday (January 28, 2026), the Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG) welcomed AJet as the association’s newest airline member. AJet is Türkiye’s youngest low-cost carrier, and a growing subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, connecting Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia with major cities and holiday regions in Türkiye. The carrier operates in 34 countries and flies to 59 international destinations in addition to more than 40 destinations within its domestic Turkish route network. In Germany, AJet currently serves eight airports.
In Wednesday’s announcement, BARIG’s Chairman and Executive Director, Michael Hoppe, said,
“AJet is a dynamically developing company that focuses on modern, low-emission, fuel-efficient aircraft in addition to targeted route planning. We are delighted to welcome this new airline to our BARIG network.”
Also commenting on their new BARIG membership, AJet’s CEO, Kerem Sarp, added,
“At a time of significant change in the aviation industry, constructive dialogue and effective representation are essential. BARIG provides an important platform for engagement with industry stakeholders and partners. Our membership supports AJet’s strategic growth objectives as we continue to expand our modern, efficient fleet and international network.”
Currently, AJet operates a fleet of approximately 90 aircraft, including Airbus A320neos, A321neos, Boeing 737-800s, and 737-8 MAX aircraft. Over the next ten years, AJet’s fleet is expected to more than double to 200 aircraft, and according to current plans, the carrier will then serve over 50 countries.
Founded in 1951, Frankfurt am Main-based BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany e.V.) represents over 100 national and international airlines in the scheduled, charter, low cost and air cargo sectors. The association works to improve conditions in the aviation industry in Germany and is the key industry contact for politics, authorities, industry and media.
