For the summer 2022 season, which runs from March 27th through October 29th, KLM will offer service to 96 European and 71 intercontinental destinations, including a wide range of choices for both business and leisure travelers.
Today (March 21, 2022), KLM announced that they will offer nonstop service to 167 destinations for the summer 2022 season, which runs from March 27th through October 29, 2022. The carrier’s schedule will include 96 European and 71 intercontinental destinations. KLM’s European capacity this summer will increase year-over-year by 10 percent, nearly matching 2019 pre-pandemic levels, with around 16 million seats on offer. Some of the routes with increased service include Porto and Lisbon in Portugal, with three and four daily flights respectively. Introduced to the carrier’s schedule last summer, service to Belgrade, Dubrovnik, and Palma de Mallorca, will once again be included in KLM’s network this year. The airline will also add frequencies on UK, German and Polish routes, as business travel recovers. Flight to Kyiv, St. Petersburg and Moscow remain suspended due to EU sanctions against Russia.
KLM is also increasing their intercontinental network by 17 percent compared to last summer. The carrier will operate daily flights to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, with frequencies to Curaçao increasing to double daily flights during the peak summer season. Service to Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, which was introduced in the airline’s winter schedule, will continue for summer with three weekly flights from Amsterdam. KLM’s transatlantic service to the U.S. this summer will return to pre-pandemic levels with flights to 12 destinations, including three weekly flights to Austin, Texas.
With more Asian countries opening to visitors, KLM is also seeing increased demand to the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Bali. With easing travel restrictions in India, the carrier will increase frequencies to Delhi and Mumbai. Since KLM is not operating in Russian airspace, flight times to and from South Korea, Japan and China are on average approximately two hours longer than normal. Flights to Japan and China are currently being operated via Seoul.
Capacity to South America has also been restored to approximately pre-pandemic levels. The carrier currently operates daily service to Sao Paulo, Panama and Lima, as well as at least six weekly flights to Quito/Guayaquil, Bogota/Cartagena, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires/Santiago de Chile. Finally, customers wishing to visit Africa will enjoy a choice of ten destinations, with expanded capacity on many routes compared to summer 2021. Service to Zanzibar, which was added last summer, will also be included in KLM’s summer 2022 schedule. The nine other African destinations include Johannesburg, Cape Town, Accra, Lagos, Kigali, Entebbe, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam.
