On Thursday (December 28, 2023), Kenya Airways announced a codeshare expansion with South African Airways (SAA) that will provide seamless single-ticket connectivity to São Paulo, Brazil (GRU) via Johannesburg (JNB).  The codeshare expansion offers the most direct flight option between Africa and South America, as existing options involve transits through the Middle East, Europe or North America.

In Thursday’s announcement, Kenya Airways’ Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Julius Thairu, said,

“Customers will now enjoy expanded strategic cooperation, offering enhanced connectivity and a superior joint offering.  Together, we are dedicated to providing passengers with unmatched travel options, world-class services, and an expanded global reach.”

The partnership provides seamless onward connectivity, allowing travelers to enjoy an integrated journey from Kenya Airways’ network to South African Airways’ South American network, all on a single ticket.  Guests will benefit from simplified logistics, shorter layover times, and an enhanced overall travel experience between Kenya and Brazil.
