On Monday (October 9, 2023), Jetstar Asia announced the launch of new service between Singapore and Wuxi, their second Chinese destination. Initially, the route will operate twice weekly with an Airbus A320 before increasing to four weekly returns on January 15, 2024. Wuxi is located in Jiangsu province, just over 100 kilometers from Shanghai. The city is situated on the bank of the Taihu, one of China’s largest fresh water lakes.

In Monday’s announcement, Jetstar Asia’s CEO, Barathan Pasupathi, said,

“Since China reopened their borders and entry requirements for foreign visitors returned to what they were pre-COVID, we’re seeing strong interest for services to key Chinese ports as well as increasing demand for services from China to Singapore. China is an important market and following the successful launch of our services to Haikou earlier this year, we’re excited to add another Chinese city to our growing list of destinations and believe Wuxi has the right dynamics to be a successful route.

“There is so much to see and do in Wuxi and the surrounding region, and in return our Chinese customers will enjoy direct low-cost flights to Singapore as well as access to our expanding network of incredible Southeast Asian countries. With the help of our incredible low fares, we’re looking forward to boosting two-way travel between these cities to enhance travel and tourism and to enable family and friends to reunite in time to welcome the New Year and celebrate the Year of the Dragon together.”
