The airline has unveiled the all-new A220-300 onboard experience which combines style and substance with economics and a stunning cabin design that will soon greet guests. JetBlue received the first of 70 A220s on order at JFK on December 31, 2020.
On Tuesday (January 12, 2021), JetBlue introduced the new onboard customer experience for their first of 70 Airbus A220s, which was delivered on December 31, 2020. The next generation A220-300 combines style with substance, while delivering game-changing economics and a custom cabin design which will soon greet customers. The aircraft features Collins Meridian seats in a two-by-three configuration, which have been customized around guest feedback for comfort and convenience. JetBlue’s first A220-300 has been configured with 140 seats offering an expanded width of 18.6 inches, the widest available for a single-aisle aircraft, and the roomiest in the company’s fleet. The seats feature enhanced cushion comfort and adjustable headrests with softer, more breathable, vegan Ultraleather®. The contoured seatback design provides additional living space along with convenient mesh seatback storage and each seat includes easy to reach AC, USB-A and USB-C power ports.
In Tuesday’s announcement, JetBlue’s Head of Marketing and Loyalty, Jayne O’Brien, said,
“With the A220 we’ve taken a state-of-the-art aircraft and added our award-winning touch to bring to life an experience only JetBlue could dream up. We look forward to welcoming customers onboard our newest aircraft, with incredible onboard comfort, one-of-a-kind design elements and unparalleled entertainment and connectivity.”
Customers onboard JetBlue’s new A220-300 will enjoy numerous inflight entertainment options as the aircraft has been equipped with Thales ViaSat-2 connectivity. JetBlue is the only U.S. carrier that offers free Fly-Fi® on every aircraft, providing gate-to-gate service. Each seat on the new aircraft also includes a 10.1 inch, 1080P high definition IFE screen, featuring 30 channels of DIRECTV®, picture-in-picture functionality and an enhanced 3D flight map. Personal devices can also be paired with the IFE for use as a remote or gaming controller.
Additionally, the new A220-300 features larger windows (compared to the Embraer E190), more spacious overhead bins, custom LED mood lighting and redesigned front galley partitions which enhance guest privacy. The lavatories feature subway tile patterns and gender neutral signage, while custom front and rear wall panel patterns incorporate Morse code that spells out fun messages. JetBlue plans on deploying the new aircraft this spring on flights between Boston and Fort Lauderdale. The A220 is powered exclusively by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, delivering double-digit improvements in both fuel burn and carbon emissions. With range of up to 3,350 nautical miles and superior economics, the aircraft opens the door to new markets and routes which were previously unprofitable.
