Today, JetBlue announced the addition of 30 new domestic routes in markets where leisure demand is showing signs of improvements as customers begin visiting friends and relatives. Although the return of business demand remains uncertain, the new routes will allow the carrier to return aircraft to service, generate revenue and provide more flying opportunities for JetBlue crewmembers. The new routes will include more service from the airline’s focus cities and play to carrier’s strength in Florida with more point-to-point routes. Additionally, JetBlue will launch their premium Mint cabin service from Newark (EWR) to Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO). The new markets will be phased in between July and October and seats will be available for purchase from June 19, 2020. In Thursday’s announcement, JetBlue’s Head of Revenue and Finance, Scott Laurence said,

“Coronavirus has transformed airline route maps, and as we begin to see small signs of recovery, we continue to be flexible with our network plans to respond to demand trends and generate cash in support of our business. We’ve selected routes where customers are showing some interest in travel again and where our low fares and award-winning experience will be noticed. We don’t believe customers should have to choose between a low fare and a great experience. These new routes are a win for customers, and we believe they will work especially well in this unique environment.”

As previously mentioned, JetBlue is also expanding their successful premium Mint cabin service from Newark with nonstop service to LAX (up to three times daily) and SFO (up to twice daily) from July 23, 2020. Mint features lie-flat seating (including individual suites with sliding privacy doors), tapas style dining, fresh espresso, amenity kits by Hayward and Hopper, and dessert from local artisanal ice cream makers. All guests will enjoy JetBlue’s Airbus A321 with Mint aircraft which feature 10” IFE screens, comfortable seats with the most legroom in coach and power outlets. The aircraft also features a self-service ‘marketplace’ with free snacks and soft drinks available throughout the flight as well as free Fly-Fi high speed broadband internet.
