The Lufthansa Group has announced that Jens Fehlinger will become the new CEO of Swiss International Air Lines effective October 1st, 2024. Mr. Fehlinger will succeed Dieter Vranckx, who will join Lufthansa Group’s Executive Board on July 1st, 2024.
On Friday (June 28, 2024), Lufthansa Group announced that effective October 1st, 2024, Jens Fehlinger will succeed Dieter Vranckx as the CEO of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS). Mr. Vranckx will become a member of Lufthansa Group’s Executive Board on July 1st, 2024. Jens Fehlinger (43) began his professional aviation career with the Lufthansa Group in 2006, and has held various management positions, including roles in strategy and development at Lufthansa Airlines, and operational performance for the Group. During the global COVID-19 pandemic, Fehlinger was responsible for the Group’s crisis management office, and he subsequently led the company’s ReNew restructuring initiative. Most recently, he has served as Co-Managing Director of Lufthansa Cityline, simultaneously serving as Managing Director of the Group’s newly established Lufthansa City Airlines.
Jens Fehlinger, a married father of two children, holds a commercial pilot’s license for the Airbus A320, and is currently in active service at Lufthansa Cityline. He holds a graduate degree in Aviation Systems Engineering and Management from the University of Bremen, Germany, as well as a master’s degree in Traffic and Transport from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. Additionally, Mr. Fehlinger has received an Executive MBA from the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. SWISS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Heike Birlenbach, will act as Interim-CEO until Jens Fehlinger assumes the role as CEO on October 1st, 2024.
