On Thursday (April 21, 2022), ITA Airways celebrated the first flight of their new Airbus A350-900 in full blue livery from Airbus’ headquarters in Toulouse. When the aircraft joins the carrier’s fleet in June, it will be deployed on intercontinental routes from Rome Fiumicino to Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Tokyo. During Thursday’s flight, the aircraft flew in cruise to complete the preparatory cycle before entry into commercial revenue service. The introduction of the A350-900 to the ITA Airways fleet will enable the airline to offer a modern, environmentally-friendly aircraft featuring cutting edge technology, which will further ITA’s goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 750,000 tonnes from 2021 through 2025.
