On Friday (January 7, 2022), Airbus announced the delivery of the first of five Airbus A220-300s to Iraqi Airways, the national carrier of Iraq. The aircraft features a modern, comfortable, dual-class cabin, with 12 Business Class and 120 Economy Class seats. As part of the airline’s fleet renewal and modernization plan, the A220-300 will offer Iraqi Airways exceptional technical, economic and environmental performance.

The Airbus A220 is the only clean sheet aircraft designed specifically for the 100-150 seat market and combines state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation PW1500G GTF engines. The A220 is the quietest, cleanest and most eco-friendly aircraft in its class, delivering a 50 percent lower noise footprint and a 25 percent reduction in fuel burn compared to previous generation aircraft. Additionally, the aircraft provides approximately 50 percent lower NOx emissions compared the industry standard. To date, over 180 Airbus A220s have been delivered to 13 operators in Asia, North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
