American Airlines Launches New Service to Budapest, Prague, Athens and Zurich

American Airlines has announced the launch of new direct service from Philadelphia to Budapest and Prague, as well as from Dallas-Fort Worth to Athens and Zurich.

On Thursday (May 21, 2026), American Airlines announced the launch of four new direct international routes, with new service to Budapest, Hungary (BUD) and Prague (PRG) from Philadelphia (PHL), and to Athens, Greece (ATH), and Zurich (ZRH) from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).  The inaugural flights took off on Thursday, marking the first day of American’s record summer 2026 schedule, and strengthening their European network with up to 70 daily flights from the U.S.  The new daily seasonal service from Philadelphia to Budapest and Prague will operate with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, while flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Athens and Zurich will operate with a mix of Boeing 777-300ER and 777-200ERs.

Commenting on the inaugural flights to Budapest and Prague from Philadelphia, American’s VP – Operations PHL, Cesar Marchese, said,


“Bolstered by our redesigned schedule and powered by the dedication of our team, we’re ready to care for customers during a record summer at PHL — especially as the city hosts several major global events this year.  We’re proud to serve as a key gateway and connection point to Europe, now with two new iconic destinations that strengthen our robust international network.”


Also speaking on the launch of new service from Dallas-Fort Worth to Athens and Zurich, American’s SVP – DFW Operations, Jim Moses, said,


“New service to Athens and Zurich is a great example of how American continues to invest in its largest hub with even more opportunities to connect to destinations around the world.  We’re also investing in the travel journey with our new 13-bank schedule that sets up our team for success and delivers for our customers — not just at DFW but across our entire airline due to the outsized impact DFW has on our global operation.”
