IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has today placed a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900s, which will help the carrier expand their international network to long-haul destinations.
On Monday (May 6, 2024), Airbus announced that India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has placed a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900s. The widebody jets will help the carrier expand their international network to long-haul destinations. The Airbus A350 is the ‘long-range-leader’ in the 300-410 seat category. With a clean sheet design encompassing state-of-the-art technologies and aerodynamics, the use of lightweight materials, and new generation engines, the aircraft delivers a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.
In Monday’s order announcement, IndiGo’s CEO, Pieter Elbers, said,

For IndiGo, after successfully pioneering the Indian skies with an unprecedented journey, its fleet of 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft will allow IndiGo to embark on its next phase of becoming one of the leading global aviation players. Also commenting on the A350-900 order, Airbus’ EVP Sales – Commercial Aircraft, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, added,
