Icelandair has announced the launch of their inaugural service to Poland for winter 2026/27. Starting September 18, 2026, the carrier will offer 3-4 weekly flights between Keflavik International Airport and Gdansk.

On Monday (February 16, 2026), Icelandair announced the launch of their inaugural service to Poland with a new route between Keflavik International Airport and Gdansk starting September 18, 2026. The route will operate 3-4 times weekly with a Boeing 737-8 MAX. Iceland is home to a thriving Polish community, and this new route will enable Polish expats to stay close to loved ones back home, while giving Icelandic expats in Poland easier access to family in Reykjavik. For travelers from Iceland and North America, the route also offers direct access to Gdansk’s vibrant culture, historic old town, and artistic heritage. Likewise, passengers from Gdansk can connect seamlessly through Iceland’s Keflavík hub to major North American cities, capitalizing on Iceland’s strategic position midway between Europe and North America.
In Monday’s announcement, Icelandair’s CEO, Bogi Nils Bogason, said,
“This new service marks an exciting milestone for Icelandair as we enter the Polish market for the first time. It’s positive on many levels, giving Polish and Icelandic expats an easier route home, while positioning Iceland as a gateway for travellers seeking direct access to Iceland or onward connections to North America. Our hub location allows us to serve this market efficiently, and we're pleased to open this door for Poland.”
Additionally, in a further network expansion, Icelandair’s Geneva route has been strengthened with an extended winter schedule. The route will now operate twice weekly with a Boeing 737-8 MAX from December 19, 2026 through Easter 2027, providing enhanced winter connectivity to this important European hub. Icelandair guests traveling between Europe and North America can also enhance their journey with a stopover in Iceland for up to 7 days, combining Polish connections with Icelandic experiences.
Founded in 1937, Icelandair uses their unique geographical location as a hub midway between Europe and North America, and offers direct flights to over 60 destinations in the UK, Scandinavia, continental Europe, and North America, including four domestic destinations in Iceland and four destinations in Greenland. The carrier also operates an airfreight and logistics business, as well as leasing and consulting services.
