On Tuesday (November 25, 2025), Iberia announced the launch of new daily service between Madrid and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) starting March 29, 2026.  The new route complements Iberia’s existing twice daily service to New York-JFK.  For summer 2026, the carrier will offer over 350,000 seats between Madrid and New York, a 42 percent increase compared to summer 2025.  The Newark route will be operated with an Airbus A321XLR, of which Iberia was the launch customer.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Iberia’s Chief Commercial, Network Development and Alliances Officer, María Jesús López Solás, said,

“Our new flight to Newark is a tangible example of how Iberia is bringing our Flight Plan 2030 to life — a roadmap designed to consolidate our position as the leader in connectivity between Europe and the Americas.  The addition of Newark not only strengthens our presence in New York with a third daily frequency but also expands options for our customers by offering greater flexibility in schedules and fares, along with the advantages of multi-frequency service.  Newark’s proximity to Manhattan makes it an excellent choice for the corporate market.  Furthermore, diversifying between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Newark allows us to optimize operations and better adapt to market needs, reinforcing our position along one of the most strategic corridors across the Atlantic.”

Iberia currently serves 10 U.S. destinations.   In 2025, the carrier will offer nearly 2.0 million seats between Spain and the U.S., with an average of 150 weekly flights.  For winter 2025/26, Iberia will operate two daily flights to New York and Miami, up to two daily flights to Boston and Puerto Rico, and three weekly flights to Washington D.C., which has evolved from a summer-only route to year-round service.  Iberia also offers daily service to Chicago, four weekly flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and Orlando, and three to Los Angeles.  Service to San Francisco will continue as a summer route with three weekly flights from May to September.
