On Monday (December 20, 2021), Iberia announced the launch of new charter service from Madrid to Cairo and Luxor in partnership with Spanish tour operator SamaTravel. The schedules have been timed to allow convenient connections from other Spanish cities such as Barcelona, A Coruña, Vigo, Asturias or Bilbao.

In Monday’s announcement, SamaTravel’s Managing Director, Mohamed Ali, said,

“From the moment in which we dared to be the first in the world to resume the charter operation to Luxor, we have observed how demand has been growing day by day. Most of our flights have been full in recent months, even reaching waiting lists. For this reason, we decided that we could not stop meeting the requests of operators and travel agencies, and we have made a strong commitment to expanding the offer to our star destination, also having the privilege of doing so with Iberia.

“We are very happy that they have chosen us to return to a country that we love and with this we trust to continue to be a benchmark at the national level and to achieve the goal of being the Spanish tour operator that offers the largest number of places to Egypt.”

Also commenting on the new charter flights to Egypt, Iberia’s Director of Sales for Spain, Portugal and North Africa, Guillermo González Vallina, said,

“We are very happy to fly back to Egypt, a destination we were going to return to in 2020 but due to the pandemic we had to temporarily suspend. Now, thanks to SamaTravel, we are going to carry out this charter operation that we are sure will be a success. From Iberia we hope to offer clients a magnificent experience during their vacations.”
