Iberia has announced the ‘Flight Plan2030’, a strategic guide for the coming years with the goal of achieving annual profitability of between 13.5 and 15 percent, allowing for an investment of €6 billion over the course of the plan.

On Wednesday (June 18, 2025), Iberia unveiled the ‘2030 Flight Plan’, a strategic guide for the coming years. The plan sets the goal of achieving annual profitability of between 13.5 to 15 percent, which will allow the airline to invest €6 billion over the plan period. Iberia plans on expending their current 45 strong long-haul aircraft to 70, to position Barajas as a major European hub. This growth will be driven by the incorporation of new Airbus A350s, A321XLRS, and potentially A330neos, drawn from the recently announced IAG order. The carrier will also renew their short and medium-haul fleet by replacing older aircraft with A320neos and A321neos. Additionally, Iberia will increase frequencies and expand destinations by adding Toronto, Philadelphia and Monterrey, as well as newly announced service to Recife, Fortaleza, and Orlando.
Speaking at Wednesday’s presentation, Iberia’s President and CEO, Marco Sansavini, said,
“Thanks to Iberia’s profound transformation over the last decade and the efforts of all our people, we are now delivering results that allow us to look to the future with confidence and invest €6 billion in our Flight Plan 2030. We want to grow from the current 45 long-haul aircraft to 70 to position Barajas as a major European hub and enhance Spain’s global connectivity. We expect to hire an average of 1,000 new employees per year throughout the duration of the 2030 Flight Plan. This will multiply the opportunities for professional improvement and development for everyone in the airline.”
The 2030 Flight Plan also includes the renovation of 100 percent of long-haul cabins, the opening of an additional Premium Lounge in Terminal 4 at Barajas Airport, and a commitment to digitalization to improve the guest experience. Additionally, Iberia will develop ‘Ciudad Iberia’ in La Muñoza, a state-of-the-art aeronautical innovation center, where the company’s corporate headquarters will also be relocated. Over the course of the plan, Iberia plans on hiring an average of 1,000 new team members annually, with the goal of reaching 250,000 direct, indirect, and induced jobs, and contributing €19 billion to Spain’s GDP annually. Finally, in celebration of the carrier’s 100th anniversary in 2027, the company will launch the Iberia Foundation, aimed at maximizing positive social impact.
