On Thursday, International Airlines Group (IAG) member airline Iberia announced a new codeshare with Chinese Carrier Spring Airlines. Under the new agreement, Iberia customers can now book flights to Chongqing, Shenyang, Dalian and Changchun via Shanghai. Customers of Spring Airlines can now book flights from Shanghai to Madrid, which are offered by Iberia three times weekly. Last week Iberia announced a new codeshare agreement with Hainan Airlines, expanding codeshare service to Haikou, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen and Xi’an. With both codeshare agreements, Iberia customers can book tickets to ten Chinese destinations. In Today’s announcement, Iberia’s Chief Customer and Network Development Officer, Maria José López Solas stated,

“Thanks to Spring Airlines we’re going to be able to reach more destinations in China and offer our customers more options and a better product. We already have an agreement with Spring whereby our technical crews can fly temporarily on their aircraft, and this is another step forward.”

Also quoted from today’s press release, Spring Airlines’ CEO, Wang Zhijie stated,

“It is important to have codeshare cooperation with Iberia. Both of us could fully utilize respective advantages. This cooperation not only enables Iberia to add popular destinations in China, but also makes Spring Airlines’ route network reach Europe.”

Iberia is a member of the International Airlines Group (IAG) along with British Airways, Aer Lingus, Level and Vueling.
