On Sunday (October 26, 2025), Iberia announced the launch of new, exclusive direct service between Madrid (MAD) and Orlando, Florida (MCO).  The inaugural flight departed Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport on Sunday, October 16, 2025 at 11:30 with 272 passengers onboard.  The new route will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays with an Airbus A330 featuring Business, Premium Economy, and Economy class cabins.

In Sunday’s announcement, Iberia’s Director of Customers, Beatriz Guillén, said,

“The launch of our direct route to Orlando marks another step in Iberia’s growth strategy in the United States, a key market for us.  With this addition, we now offer nine destinations in the country, reinforcing our position as the leading airline connecting Spain and North America. Orlando is much more than a tourist destination: it’s a global hub for leisure, conferences, and innovation, and we’re proud to be the only airline directly linking Spain with this city.  This new route allows us to continue expanding our network, diversifying our offering, and strengthening Madrid’s hub as a gateway between Europe and the Americas.”

Also commenting on Iberia’s new direct service, The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority’s (GOAA), CEO, Lance Lyttle, said,

“We’re excited to welcome Iberia and celebrate nonstop service between Orlando and Madrid.  Passenger demand between our two cities has reached record levels, and this new connection offers a world-class link between two vibrant destinations for both leisure and business travel. There are new opportunities for Central Floridians to explore the world and now more international visitors can experience all that our region has to offer, further strengthening Orlando International Airport’s role as a true global gateway.”

Disney Destinations’ General Manager – Spain and Portugal, Tiago Santos, added,

“We are very pleased to collaborate with Iberia on this initiative, which marks a turning point in the experience for Spanish visitors traveling to Walt Disney World Resort.  This flight confirms the alliance between two major companies and simplifies the journey for Spanish travellers flying directly to the magic.”

Prior to departure on Sunday, Iberia’s guests were greeted with several surprises, including a large Walt Disney World arch at the boarding gate, inviting travellers to begin their direct journey to the magic. Once onboard, passengers also enjoyed special touches, such as an entertainment kit designed especially for the youngest travelers.

In addition to being known as the theme park capital of the world, Orlando continues to position itself as a strategic destination for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, thanks to facilities like the Orange County Convention Center. This venue is one of the largest in the United States, with over 200,000 square meters (2.1 million square feet) of space for exhibitions and meetings, hosting hundreds of international events annually—from trade shows to large corporate conferences. The presence of Cape Canaveral, linked to the space industry and cruise tourism, further enhances the region’s appeal.
