Iberia launched their inaugural flight between Madrid and Doha on Monday, December 11, 2023, with flight IB6701 departing Madrid at 08:30 with 270 guests onboard. The route will now operate daily, complementing Qatar Airways’ double-daily service.
On Monday (December 11, 2023), Iberia announced the launch of their inaugural service between Madrid (MAD) and Doha (DOH), with flight IB6701 taking flight from Madrid at 08:30 and touching down in Doha at 17:35 with 270 guests onboard (all times local). The route will now operate daily, complementing Qatar Airways’ double-daily service, strengthening the longstanding cooperation between IAG and the Qatar Airways Group. With the new route, Iberia joins the largest airline joint business in the world, along with Qatar Airways and British Airways. Through their hubs in Madrid, London and Hoha, the partners offer unparalleled connectivity between Spain and over 200 destinations across Asia, Australasia, the Middle East and Africa.
In Monday’s announcement, Iberia’s President, Fernando Candela, said,
“It is not only about the launch of a new route, something that always fills us with excitement, but this is how we open the door to and from Asia, a very extensive continent, which will mean a very wide range of options to increase and diversify connectivity and, with it, tourism and business.”
Also commenting on the route launch, Qatar Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, added,

The new route enables Iberia’s customers to connect via Doha to 49 new destinations in Asia, 17 in Africa, 18 in the Middle East and six in Oceania. Iberia’s new daily Madrid-Doha service will be operated with and Airbus A330-200 with capacity for 288 guests in Business Class and Economy Class.
