Gulf Air operated their inaugural flight between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Greek Island of Santorini on Wednesday. The carrier will offer two weekly flights to both Santorini and Mykonos through September 2021.
On Wednesday (June 16, 2021), Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced the launch of their inaugural flight between the Kingdom and Santorini in Greece. The flight (GF034) was welcomed at Santorini International Airport with a traditional water cannon salute, followed by a gathering of airport officials and crewmembers where commemorative photographs were taken. Guests onboard the flight received special boarding passes and commemorative certificates in celebration of the new service. The flight was operated with Gulf Air’s new Airbus A320neo featuring 16 Falcon Gold seats and 120 Economy Class seats.
Speaking on the launch of the new route, Gulf Air’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Captain Waleed AlAlawi, said,
“Earlier this month, Gulf Air operated its inaugural flight to Mykonos and with today’s launch of Santorini flights, the airline aims to boost its network with popular boutique seaside destinations that are favourite to many tourists and families in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region. These strategic additions come in place as the demand for travel gradually grows towards the summer holiday with travel restrictions easing off in Europe.”
Founded in 1950, Gulf Air is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain and normally serves 49 cities in 27 countries. From its hub at Bahrain International Airport, the airline offers twice daily service to 10 or more regional cities as well as international flights to the Indian subcontinent and Europe.
