Gulf Air Appoints Two Bahrainis as Chief Financial Officer and Director of Human Resources

As part of Gulf Air’s commitment to the Bahraini workforce, they have appointed two Bahrainis to executive and management positions. Mr. Adnan Hashim has been named Chief Financial Officer and Mr. Jamal AlKuwaiti has been appointed Director of Human Resources.

On Tuesday (June 29, 2021), Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced the appointment of two Bahrainis to executive and management positions. Mr. Adnan Hashim has been named Chief Financial Officer and Mr. Jamal AlKuwaiti has been appointed Director of Human Resources. Gulf Air is a leader in the Bahrainisation program in the Kingdom and is committed to providing opportunities for local and experienced talent to work in the various areas of the airline’s business. The carrier continues to provide career development opportunities to Bahraini nationals, so they can take over higher management positions in the company.


In Tuesday’s announcement, Gulf Air’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Captain Waleed AlAlawi, said,

The Kingdom of Bahrain is known for its highly educated and experienced pool of talents and Gulf Air will always prioritize Bahrainis for job opportunities whether in executive roles or at entry levels. I welcome Mr. Hashim and Mr. AlKuwaiti to the Gulf Air family and I am sure they will be up for the challenge in working for a global and multinational airline with such legacy and heritage.”


Mr. Adnan Hashim joins Gulf Air with over 25 years in the banking and finance industry. He previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for Aluminium Bahrain (ALBA) and as CFO at NCB Capital, the region’s leading investment firm and Saudi Arabia’s largest asset manager. Mr. Hashim has sat on numerous boards and executive committees at various financial institutions and has also served as the Chairman of ACCA Members’ Advisory Committee, Bahrain. He holds an MBA with distinction from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.

Mr. Jamal AlKuwaiti has over two decades of work experience, including 15 years specializing in human resources management in government, semi-government and the private sector, including Aluminium Bahrain (ALBA) and Azadea Retail Group. These experiences have enriched his expertise in organizational development, performance, talent management and cultural transformation. Mr. AlKuwaiti holds a master’s degree in Human Resources from De Paul University and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Bahrain.


Founded in 1950, Gulf Air is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain and normally serves 49 cities in 27 countries. From its hub at Bahrain International Airport, the airline offers twice daily service to 10 or more regional cities as well as international flights to the Indian subcontinent and Europe. Gulf Air currently operates a modern fleet of 33 narrow and widebody aircraft and by 2023 their fleet will consist of 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, 12 Airbus A320neos and 17 Airbus A321neos. The airline is known for its traditional Arabian hospitality, and Gulf Air is committed to becoming an industry leader by developing products and services that reflect the evolving needs and aspirations of their guests.
