On Monday (September 15, 2025), GIC International Catering announced that Cubana de Aviación (Cubana), the national flag carrier of Cuba, has become their latest culinary partner.  Starting in December 2025, GIC will provision two weekly Cubana flights between Frankfurt and Havana.  Currently, GIC International, a specialist for bespoke onboard catering at Frankfurt Airport, produces up to 5,000 meals daily for 21 airlines.  This year, the family-owned Kelsterbach, Germany based catering company is celebrating their 25th anniversary.

In Monday’s announcement, GIC International Catering’s CEO, Göksel Yildirim, said,

“For 25 years now, we have been combining highest quality with individual service and are delighted to expand our international network.  From December, Cubana passengers can look forward to authentic, freshly prepared menus with a Cuban twist which we will create with attention to detail.  Our goal is not to solely deliver a good meal but to create real culinary delight – even in 10,000 meters altitude.”

From December 2025, GIC will serve two weekly Cubana connections between Frankfurt and Havana, on Wednesdays (with stopover in Holguín) and Saturdays, with a 287-seat Airbus A330-200.  This will be the only nonstop connection between Germany and Cuba for winter 2025/26.  Passengers can look forward to freshly prepared and innovative meals onboard such as sous-vide cooked beef short ribs with truffled potato casserole, cod in a walnut mustard crust accompanied by fresh baby vegetables, or boletus ravioli served in a creamy pesto sauce.

Kelsterbach, Germany-based GIC International Catering GmbH (GIC) has been a reliable partner in airline catering for 25 years.  With 170 employees, a 2,500 square meter production site, and state-of-the-art logistics, the company prepares culinary delights from gourmet menus for Business Class and VIP guests and warm meals for Economy Class, to budget friendly snacks.  GIC’s customers range from international airlines to business jet providers and private air charters, including famous passengers like Naomi Campbell, Beyoncé, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Saudi Royal Family.  Additionally, the caterer supplies schools with fresh and nutritious meals as well as private events.
