Frontier Airlines Names New President and Chief Financial Officer

Frontier Airlines has named James G. Dempsey as the carrier’s new President and Mark C. Mitchell as Chief Financial Officer. In their new roles, both men will be reporting directly to Frontier’s CEO, Barry Biffle.

On Thursday (October 19, 2023) Frontier Airlines announced the appointment of James Dempsey as the carrier’s new President. In his new role, Mr. Dempsey will oversee the Commercial, Customer Care, and Operations Research, Design and Planning functions for the airline. Joining Frontier in 2014, Dempsey previously served as the airline’s EVP and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that, he held senior management roles with Ryanair and PricewaterhouseCoopers.


Frontier has also appointed Mark Mitchell as the carrier’s new EVP and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Mitchell joined Frontier in 2015 after holding various leadership positions with Starwood Hotels and resorts, including Vice President of Accounting and Corporate Controller for Starwood Vacation Ownership. At Frontier, Mitchell previously served as the airline’s VP CAO and VP of Finance and Investor Relations and will now assume James Dempsey’s former role.


In Thursday’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ Chief executive Officer, Barry Biffle, said,


“Jimmy and Mark have been invaluable members of Frontier’s senior leadership team over the past eight plus years and have played instrumental roles in the company’s evolution and growth during that time. They are exceptional leaders who are well-positioned to guide our airline into the future.”


Additionally, Frontier Airlines further announced the appointment of Rajat Khanna as SVP and Chief Information Officer (CIO). Khanna joins Frontier from Lowe’s, where he served as VP, Technology – U.S. Omnichannel Digital Customer Experience, as well as the de facto CIO for Lowe’s Canada. Previously, Khanna served in IT leadership roles with United Airlines.


Finally, Frontier has also appointed Matthew Saks as Vice president and Treasurer. Mr. Saks joins the carrier from Airbus, where he most recently served as Vice President – Airline Marketing, and previously held various leadership roles in sales, customer finance and auditing.


Further commenting on Rajat Khanna and Matthew Saks’ appointments, Frontier’s CEO, Barry Biffle, added,


“Each of these individuals bring a wealth of skills and experience to their roles and we are excited to have them on the Frontier leadership team as we embark upon an exciting period of rapid growth for our organization.”
