On Friday (February 19, 2021), Frontier Airlines announced the start of nonstop flights between Orlando international Airport (MCO) and Cyril E. King Airport (STT) in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. St. Thomas is Frontier’s fifth new destination from Orlando in February 2021, as the airline previously launched service to Cancun, Miami, Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and Wilmington, Delaware. In March, the carrier will also start service between Orlando and Phoenix Sky harbor international Airport (PHX), expanding their offer from Orlando to 60 nonstop routes. In Friday’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ President and CEO, Barry Biffle, said,

“This new service from Orlando to St. Thomas marks yet another milestone in our growth at Orlando International Airport. We have become the number one airline at MCO based on total nonstop routes available and this spring will see the addition of even more great destinations for consumers to choose from. We are particularly excited to launch service to St. Thomas today. It is an extraordinary destination on many travelers’ bucket list and our ‘Low Fares Done Right’ approach will enable consumers to fly to the island affordably and conveniently.”

Also commenting on the launch of St. Thomas service, Greater Orlando Aviation Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Phil Brown, said,

“We’re pleased that Frontier is able to expand their service here at Orlando International while providing Central Floridians more access to a desirable island destination that is easy to visit. Since St. Thomas is a U.S. Territory, passengers traveling to Orlando can expect seamless travel from this domestic paradise.”

The Commissioner of Tourism for the U.S. Virgin Islands, Joseph Boschulte, added,

“We welcome this new service from Orlando to St. Thomas and are grateful for Frontier’s partnership as we continue to prioritize airlift development. These new flights offer an affordable and customized option for travel to the Territory during and beyond the peak winter season, and help to meet the strong demand from this important market.”

Frontier Airlines is committed to “Low Fares Done Right.” The Denver-based carrier operates over 100 Airbus A320 Family aircraft and has the largest Airbus A320neo fleet in the U.S., delivering the highest level of fuel-efficiency and noise footprint reduction compared to previous generation models. Frontier offers customers the ability to customize travel to their needs and budget, including base fares, a-la-carte options and one low-priced bundle called the WORKS.

Frontier’s commitment to families includes their ‘Discount Den’ travel club which allows children 14 years and younger to fly free on qualifying flights. The airline’s family friendly FRONTIER Miles loyalty program allows guests to earn one mile for every mile flown and permits the family pooling of miles, making it easier to earn rewards. Frontier currently has 150 new Airbus aircraft on order, which will continue to deliver on their mission of providing affordable travel across America.
